According to the Suzhou Municipal Bureau of Industry and Information Technology, Mondelēz’s manufacturing plant in Suzhou, namely Mondelēz Suzhou, was approved on Jan. 13 as a “Lighthouse Factory” by the World Economic Forum (WEF), becoming the first end-to-end lighthouse factory in the global biscuit & snack industry. There are 132 lighthouse factories in the world and a total of 50 Chinese companies made it to the list, 6 of which are in Suzhou.
The Global Lighthouse Network of advanced manufacturers is a project launched by the World Economic Forum in collaboration with McKinsey & Company in 2018. The enterprises on the list represent the highest level of intelligent manufacturing and digitalization in the global manufacturing industry today. They serve as models of adoption and integration of the cutting-edge technologies of the Fourth Industrial Revolution as well as beacons of light that can guide companies in the digital transformation of the global manufacturing industry.
Established in 1995, Mondelēz Suzhou has 13 fully automated production lines with an annual capacity of over 200,000 tons.
