On January 17, the Suzhou Bay Museum opened at the Suzhou Bay Cultural Center in Wujiang District. Jin Jie, director of the Publicity Department of the CPC Suzhou Municipal Committee, attended the opening ceremony.
The Suzhou Bay Cultural Center, with a total floor area of 215,000 square meters, is divided into two parts, with the Suzhou Bay Grand Theater and the Suzhou Bay Cinema in the northern section and the Suzhou Bay Museum and the Digital Art Museum in the southern section.
The new Suzhou Bay Museum has 6 floors above ground, with a floor area of 26,000 square meters and an exhibition area of 5,700 square meters. It houses a most comprehensive collection of documents and artifacts related to the history of Wujiang from the Neolithic Age to modern times, offering visitors an inspiring insight into the development of the district.
After the opening ceremony, the museum opened a special exhibition themed on the Silk Road and the Grand Canal, which features a total of 166 pieces or sets of exhibits and will last for 3 months.
